MY REVIEW- I had a very strange and unpleasant experience with this gynecologist. During my consultation, she repeatedly mentioned that my case was “very complex” and that she needed to “put her brain into it” simply because I am allergic to certain medicines. This felt more like a tactic to justify charging me extra rather than addressing my medical needs. Despite being told by the receptionist that any follow-up visits within five working days would be covered under the original consultation fee, the doctor asked me to pay half the consultation fee again on my follow-up visit (which was within the promised window). Her reasoning? My case was “complicated” because of my medication allergies. It was incredibly frustrating to feel like I was being penalized financially for something that was beyond my control. What baffled me the most is how she seemed to charge based on the complexity of a case. Aren’t consultation fees supposed to be standard? If that’s the case, does she charge less for simple cases? It just doesn’t add up. Overall, this experience felt highly unprofessional, and I cannot recommend her to anyone looking for a fair and transparent medical consultation. Patients shouldn’t be charged more just because their cases require a little more thought. DOCTOR’S REPLY- Dear Huma, Apologies for the non-standard experience. However, it is also not standard for doctors to reply to all queries on WhatsApp, making the follow up visit almost like a second consultation in your case. We are a small self run clinic and were honest about the complexity of the case. It is also standard practice at most corporate hospitals to charge extra for complex cases / high risk cases. Wishing you the best. MY RESPONSE - While I appreciate your acknowledgment of the situation, I must emphasize that follow-up fees should not fluctuate based on the perceived complexity of a case. I was clearly informed by your staff that follow-ups within the specified timeframe were included in the original consultation, and yet, I was charged again. This lack of transparency, coupled with your reasoning, feels more like a justification for additional charges rather than a reflection of medical necessity. Moreover, as you mentioned, this is a self-run clinic, not a corporate hospital, so why adopt the corporate practice of charging extra for more ‘complex’ cases? Clear communication and consistency in fees are fundamental to patient trust.
